First news: this blog now is in english because of my new friends! I'm pretty sure you can read in english, even my bad english... : D
29 days... Thats a lot of time! Specially when I think about the next 29 days!
First things first: Why the hell do they have two taps in the sinks: one with ICING water, and the other with BOILING water!
You just cant use any of them! Every morning I kept telling to myself, it's not possible... Why don't they mix it together, like everybody else!
Ok, nevermind... >)
Edinbrough is an amazing city... And the hostel (Caledonian) really helped my experience:
Big nice kitchen
Bar
And those psychedelic images all over the place
Besides funny messages everywhere
And... The Staff was really kind.
And free internet!
In the first day, a seagull came in the kitchen's window
And kept starring at me! After I completely ignored, it started to hit the glass in the window with it's peak! Like "C'mon! Give me some food!"
Ok, he deserves some bread...
Edinbrough was crowded because of the International Festival
At least until August 31th, when it ended (3 days ago)
I was able to see a lot of street performances, specially in the Saturday
But the main famous events, in the closed buildings, were mostly sold out. There was a lot of stand up comedy, all around the city, but we thought it wouldn't be funny (specially because that scottish accent, we wouldn't understand half of the jokes...)
So, we searched for pubs, walks and museums...
The first walk was to Arthur City, a hill from where you can see all of Edinbrough! (ok, its not that big anyway...)
And finally, the view from the top!
I made a movie, but you can't see much besides everything spining... : )
(can't upload! I'll do it soon!)
So... Next day, the famous castle!
And in the last day, the now traditional in this eurotrip, New Europe Free Tour!
For example, here she was talking about how people used to rob bodies from the cemetery to sell in the medical school, so they put some bars around the grave (no, they are not zombies, unfortunately...)
And here, the school that inspired Herry Potter's Hogwards
Talking about that, she told us that Scotland killed more "witches" then any other country. And what makes you a witch? Red hair, or a birthmark, or a third nipple...
And what did they do if you had any of those? They would torture you until you admit, them they would hang you, or... burn you alive... The strange thing is that Scotland has the biggest population of red hared woman in europe!!!
Then, after a nice history about "The stone of destiny" (oooooooooohhh), the tour was over (nobody could take it anymore, the rain just didn't give a break...)
Finally, we bought a Smokey traditional whiskey
And the most famous soft drink around (it sells more then Coca and Pepsi TOGETHER around here) : Irn Bru
Its just like Tubaina, from Brasil...
Good bye Edinburgh! With your REALLY RAINY wheter, your cold wind and you beautiful architecture / landscape...
Next stop: London!
This Picture is from today's walk by the Thames river!
Wrong whisky, this was the one Caol Ila, 12 years:

The name would be better if was Coal Ila! ;)
Did you find out the secret of the taps in the sinks? This remembered me about the movie Demolition Man, where Stallone is in a future where people use the "three seashells" instead of toilet paper. People laugh when he asks how to use them and the movie ends without he learning how to do it.
ResponderExcluirhahahaha
ResponderExcluirI remember that!
